Plastic nails for bjd tutorial by cian1675 Plastic nails for bjd tutorial by cian1675
i came across a doa thread quite a while ago where people were discussing what is the best way to make long nails for dolls. someone suggested straws. so i did this today for fun, and made a tutorial if anyone's interested to try it out. it isn't that difficult to figure out how to do, but i figured some photos won't hurt. the only part that i had to think about how to do was which direction to cut the straw to get that natural curve nails have.

the hand used here is a female lishe hand. gabby is a cp dreaming lishe boy, and he normally wears male cp hands, but i did the nails on the girl hands, so i was lazy and just swapped the female hands onto him for some photos.

Yup, but you might want to make sure the straw can take the heat first and try on a small piece to see if the straw holds up. And you're welcome :) Most people paint them on, haha, but I like temporary solutions for photoshoots if I feel like it >_<

Stupid question, do you think the tack would hurt the doll at all?

:I~

Should it be white maybe>#<

Nope. It's the same as the white tac I put in my dolls' eyes. Anyway, I have it holding on the plastic straw nails for over a year on one of my dolls and nothing happened. But yes, I agree that white should be safer. I don't use blu tack so I can't be sure though. ^_^

Sure! It's actually quite ...durable? Haha. I have it on one of my dolls for over 3 months now, and except for occasionally moving out of place on his fingers, it has stayed on even though it's held by white blu-tack XD

Maybe using a tiny dab of regular school glue might get a bit better of a result, and it (shouldn't) harm your doll at all.
this is SO cute~ too bad I have a boy, or I'd do this :D
Screw it, I'm bored. He's getting girly nails XD

Haha, I was lazy, and this was a quick afternoon project, so I used tac. Mostly it's cos I can't glue things on without getting a lot of glue on areas not intended to be glued, so I try to avoid it whenever I can. And hahaha, yeah, I had the same thought about how it's fun/cute to do, and my boy got the nails lol.

Haha, I don't know... Maybe you can try, but I don't think it'll be as good as the acrylic fake nails they sell for humans. My main concern is that straws are pretty weak in big pieces, so they may not be realistic if we use this on us, haha.
